Dr. Kyle Scafide (University of New Orleans)

Research interests include: Assessing and altering environment to improve stakeholder satisfaction and productivity/retention (especially with regard to institutions of higher education and other private and public organizations), understanding factors related to retention levels of under-represented students, tracking the outcomes of those who complete teacher preparation programs, and lgbtq studies.

Kyle Scafide received a Bachelor of Arts degree (philosophy) from St. Joseph Seminary College in 1984 and entered graduate school at De Katholieke Universiteit te Leuven in Belgium. He finished his M.A. at Notre Dame Theological in 1990 and began teaching part-time at two colleges in the New Orleans metro area. During those years, he taught two or three classes a semester, though most of his time in the 1990s was dedicated to working as editor-in-chief of two lgbtq publications, IMPACT and eclipse. His contributions to the publications were primarily journalistic, but he also published quite a bit of fiction, as well.

He completed his second Master’s degree (M.Ed., UNO) in 2001 and immediately pursued the doctorate. In 2004, while still conducting research for his dissertation, he worked for a short time in the educational software private sector. Upon attaining his PhD in 2005, he returned to UNO to assist the College of Education with the NCATE accreditation process.

Currently, Kyle is involved in several writing projects while maintaining his business interests. He is available for adjunct teaching and assisting doctoral students with dissertations. He also offers consultation related to improving organizational effectiveness and stakeholder satisfaction.
