Abstract

Evidence-based practice (EBP) projects engage many nurses, whether they’re working in acute care health systems or furthering their education in baccalaureate, master’s degree, or doctoral nursing programs. These EBP projects follow a series of steps to address a clinical problem with immediate practice implications. They synthesize evidence, implement recommendations, evaluate outcomes, and generate local evidence. Unfortunately, the knowledge gained from EBP projects isn’t being disseminated as quickly as it’s been produced. Sharing EBP project results is a vital step that enables local evidence to be used in decision making and practice changes on a larger scale. One of the ways that nurses can disseminate their results most widely is by publishing. This article provides novice nurse authors with an overview of EBP principles and the steps for publishing their EBP project results.
