Kent Randell is an Archivist/Librarian and Assistant Professor at Albertsons Library, Special Collections and Archives. In addition to processing collections and creating new finding aids, he is currently working on updating the existing manuscript collection finding aids to be compliant with DACS (Describing Archives: A Content Standard) and converting them into EAD (Encoded Archival Description) .xml documents. With the assistance of a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, Special Collections has recently joined the Northwest Digital Archives (http://nwda.orbiscascade.org), which serves as a searchable repository of EAD finding aids for several archival institutions of the Northwestern United States. This framework will also allow for more interaction between the text finding aids and online digital collections.
