Professor Frieden teaches Judaic Literature, specializing in Yiddish and Hebrew
texts. He has held the B.G. Rudolph Chair in Judaic Studies at Syracuse University since
1993. He also edits a series, Judaic Traditions in Literature, Music, and Art, at
Syracuse University Press. In addition to working in the fields of Judaic Studies and
Comparative Literature, he is active as a Klezmer clarinetist.
