Quality of Life Assessment : an Outcome Estimation of Chinese Medical Treatment

Kelvin Chan, University of Wolverhampton, United Kingdom

Abstract

At present, quality of life (QOL) has become a relevant measure of efficacy in clinical trials. It s use is spreading, and it s importance is growing as a valid indicator of effectiveness of a treatment (1). In 1985, QOL, recommended by Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is one of the primary efficacy parameters as a basis for approval of anticancer drugs. Some scholars in China are also interested in establishing a related parameter for measuring efficacy of new drugs in view of QOL (2). Without question, to improve QOL is one of the main goals in health care and social work.
