Kelly Thormodson is currently the Head of Health Sciences Education & Research
in the Hardin Library for the Health Sciences. In this role she supervises the liaison
program which provides outreach to the five health science colleges and the University of
Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She works to ensure they provide a consistent message and
adhere to our training mission and goals and provide instruction and research assistance
for faculty and students. Her professional interests include: administration, management,
medical library trends, mobile technologies, education and public services. 

Ms. Thormodson received her BA at North Dakota State University and her MA in Library and
Information Science at the University of Iowa. She started her career as a Training
Librarian at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, WA in 1999. There she
also held the positions of Systems Librarian and Operations Supervisor. In 2009, she
returned to Iowa City to take on her current position. She is actively involved in the
Medical Library Association (MLA) as well as the Midwest Chapter of MLA
