Dr. Keith Allred has taught 3rd-12th grades in settings ranging from a remote rural two-room school in Nevada to urban schools in Dallas, working with diverse populations of students with disabilities. He has a B.A. in Education from Brigham Young University, an M.S. in Educational Psychology from the University of Texas at Dallas and Brigham Young University, and a Ph.D. in Education and Human Development with an emphasis in Special Education from Vanderbilt University. Dr. Allred taught at Eastern Illinois University and Brigham Young University, and spent 9 years as an Early Childhood Special Education Consultant with the Nevada Department of Education before joining the faculty of the Department of Special Education & Early Childhood Studies at Boise State University in 2007. His research has focused on identifying factors that contribute to schools that effectively serve students with disabilities, and the effects of young children with disabilities on families. Dr. Allred served as President of the Nevada chapter of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, and Treasurer of the Idaho chapter of the Division of Early Childhood of the Council for Exceptional Children. In 2011, he was appointed by Governor Butch Otter to serve as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Idaho Special Education Advisory Panel.
