About Keith Hechtman

Keith Hechtman, M.D., is a dual Board-certified orthopedic surgeon with Miami Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute and a member of Baptist Health Medical Group, an organization of more than 180 physicians in multiple specialties closely aligned with Baptist Health South Florida. He specializes in both sports medicine and arthroscopy of the shoulder, elbow, knee and ankle. He is the head team physician for Florida International University and assistant team physician for the Florida Panthers hockey team. Over 20 years ago, he helped establish the relationship between Miami-Dade County Public Schools and Doctors Hospital to improve the healthcare of student athletes. Dr. Hechtman also serves as a clinical instructor for physician assistants and athletic trainers at Barry University, Miami Dade College and Nova Southeastern University. He was a physician for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. He is a professor in the department of orthopedics at Florida International University's Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, clinical associate professor in the department of orthopedics and rehabilitation at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and a voluntary associate professor in the department of exercise & sport sciences at the University of Miami. During his service as an orthopedic surgeon in the U.S. military's Operation Desert Storm, he was awarded various commendation medals. Dr. Hechtman is well-published and has delivered numerous presentations about orthopedic injuries. He continues to be active in research and serves as chairman of the Research Committee for Baptist Health Medical Group. He has been named one of the Best Doctors in America many times since 2003.
