About Kate Walker

Kate Walker is an artist whose work moves between painting, drawing and video, where narrative devices are used to explore contemporary social issues. Originally from New Zealand, Walker started as an adjunct professor in the Department of Art at Boise State University in 2010, and joined the ranks of tenure-track faculty in 2013. Her education includes a B.A. in English Literature from Victoria University in Wellington, a Diploma in Visual Arts-Painting from Nelson Polytechnic, and a Diploma of Secondary Teaching from Christchurch College of Education, all in New Zealand. She went on to earn an M.F.A. in Painting from the University of Arizona in Tucson, and a certificate in Te Tuara me Te Tinana O Te Reo Māori (Māori Language) from Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology, in Nelson, New Zealand. Walker's work has been widely exhibited and screened, both nationally (in New Zealand and the United States) and internationally, and she is an active exhibit curator and an invited juror and judge for art shows and awards.
