Abstract
This chapter explores the notion of language demarcation as related to standard language ideologies and the notion of language "purity." Spanglish is used as a case study. Connections to race, nationality, and class are developed. This book won the 2012 Outstanding Book Award from the Conference on College Composition and Communication.
