Abstract

A history of library services in Owensboro, Kentucky, the county seat of Daviess County. Article traces the history of the early library development in Owensboro and the eventual establishment of a Carnegie library in 1911, but not before a lengthy altercation between library supporters and the city’s vitriolic mayor.
