Entertainment Law Ethics: Part 1 The First of a Series on Ethics for Entertainment Lawyers
Abstract
Entertainment lawyers who aggressively represent clients often test the limits of permissible professional conduct by acquiring an ownership interest in a client's career or when they seem to become advocates of their own self-interest instead of their clients'. Given the highly competitive and entrepreneurial nature of the entertainment business, it is not surprising that entertainment lawyers are the subject of complaints before disciplinary authorities and the courts. This series of articles will discuss some of the obstacles and ethical pitfalls often encountered by entertainment lawyers.
