John J. Pantana grew up on a small farm in Elida, Ohio. As the son of a converted
Roman Catholic turned Baptist preacher and Mennonite mother, John, his two brothers, and
sister attended a two-room Mennonite Christian Day School for the first eight years of
his education. 

John received his B.S. in Secondary Education from Bob Jones University, Greenville, SC ,
in ‘70. In ‘74 he earned an M.Ed. in Educational Administration from Georgia State
University, Atlanta, GA and an Ed.D. in Research and Statistics from the University of
Virginia, Charlottesville, VA , in ‘85. 

John began his educational career teaching mathematics at both the middle and high school
levels in Christian schools in: Bainbridge, GA; Hammond, IN; and Atlanta, GA. In ‘72 he
served as Assistant Principal of Forrest Hills Christian Elementary School , Decatur, GA.
The next year he became the principal of Forrest Hills Christian High School . In ‘74 he
moved to Lynchburg, VA, where he taught high school mathematics and general science at
Lynchburg Christian Academy. In ‘75 he began teaching in the mathematics and education
departments at Liberty University (then Lynchburg Baptist College). From ‘79-‘88, John
served as Coordinator/Department Chair of Secondary Education. He currently teaches both
undergraduate and graduate classes in the School of Education at Liberty University, and
has supervised teacher candidates in both public and private schools in the Central
Virginia area. Since ‘96, John has also been an adjunct Professor of Business Statistics
at Central Virginia Community College, Lynchburg, VA. 

John and his wife Linda married in 1970. They have six, soon to be eight, grandchildren
and five children: Krista, a CPA in Woodstock,GA; Lisa, an elementary teacher in the
Lynchburg Public School System; Matt, a software developer; and twins Jason and Joshua,
who are students at Liberty University and pursuing a music career. For the past 40
years, in addition to teaching, John and his family have been involved in gospel music.
They have recorded several albums and have ministered in hundreds of churches across
America and in foreign countries.
