John Hurley, University of Dundee
Michael Ramsay, Unversity of Dundee

Abstract

The article explores the past, present and future developments in the field of mental health nursing (MHN). It discusses how the pressure of the increasing ageing populations, a diminishing workforce and the benefits of controlled, measurable interventions affect the demand for MHN for both voice and considered response. The article provides suggestions to these concerns.
