Dr John Hurley B(Counselling)(UNE), PGDip(MentalHlthNurs)(JCU), MSc(Nursing)(USQ), PhD(USQ) Dr John Hurley is a mental health and general registered nurse with qualifications in gestalt psychotherapy, counselling and adult education. He is currently with Southern Cross University as a senior lecturer after working in the United Kingdom for the past 9 years. . His previous academic experience includes appointments with University of Nottingham, the University of Dundee, and as a Nursing Consultant for mental health crisis services in England. His research interests include emotional intelligence, mental health nursing and forensic services, as well as talk based therapies, leadership and mental health crisis. John maintains his clinical nursing through working with young people as a credentialled mental health nurse and therapist with Mid North Coast Headspace.
