Premises Liability for Shopping Mall Fire Safety

This article examines the liability of owners and tenants of shopping malls for injury and damages resulting from fire on the premises. Topics discussed include res ipsa loquitur, the landlord’s duty at common law to provide fire safety equipment, fire regulations as exercise of the police power, and the status of shopping mall patrons as well as the liability of owners to tenants and tenants to owners for shopping mall fires.
