Abstract
Carl Nielsen's Concerto for clarinet and orchestra: This lecture-recital includes aspects of Nielsen's compositional style contrasted with those of his contemporaries, a discussion of specific performance-related issues, and the performers' ideas about the general structure of the work, as compared to published analyses of the work. Dr. John Cipolla, clarinet; Dr. Janet Bass-Smith, piano. Here are links to videos of a dress rehearsal. We were not able to video the actual performance.
