About John R. Bartle

Dr. John R. Bartle has served as the Dean of the College of Public Administration and Community Service since 2013. He previously served as the Acting/Interim Dean of CPACS and the Director of School of Public Administration. Dr. Bartle has taught at the University of Nebraska Omaha since 1994 and has been the David Scott Diamond Alumni Professor of Public Affairs since 2008. Prior to coming to UNO, he taught at the State University of New York at Binghamton and The Ohio State University.
Dr. Bartle holds a B.A. in Economics from Swarthmore College, a M.P.A. from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Management from The Ohio State University. He is a member of the Omaha by Design Advisory Board and is on the editorial boards of multiple publications including State and Local Government Review and the Journal of Public Budgeting, Accounting & Financial Management. Dr. Bartle’s research interests include public finance and budgeting, transportation, and sustainable development.
