Abstract
This study primarily investigated the process of gender construction. Coeducational and single sex primary and secondary schools from all States and Territories, as well as from the three sectors - government, Catholic and independent - were included in the study. The data collected provides baseline data against which progress in implementing the National Policy for the Education of Girls in Australian Schools can be judged. The study was designed to provide data on gender matters in relation to boys as well as girls. Generally, it asked the same questions of and about boys and girls.
