Dr. Ziembo-Vogl did her undergraduate work at Saginaw Valley State University in
Saginaw, Michigan. She received a B.A. in Criminal Justice with majors in sociology and
criminal justice. She received a M.S. degree in Police Administration from Michigan State
University in East Lansing, Michigan and her Ph.D. in Multi-Disciplinary Social Science
with concentrations in sociology, criminal justice, and journalism, also from Michigan
State University. Dr. Ziembo-Vogl holds the distinction of being a Fulbright Scholar and
was a visiting professor at the College of Police and Security Studies in Ljubljana,
Slovenia. 

Professor Ziembo-Vogl’s research and writing have focused on community policing and
criminology. Dr. Ziembo-Vogl’s teaching at GVSU includes criminology, community policing,
victimology, crimes against women, introduction to criminal justice, and media-related
courses. Her current areas of research interest include global forms of community
policing and officer involved domestic violence.
