Associate Professor Joan Petit is Humanities and Social Sciences Librarian and Manager of Reference Services and Library Technologies at Portland State University Library in Portland, Oregon. She holds an MSLS from the University of North Carolina School of Information and Library Science, an MA in English from Western Carolina University, and a BA in English and Women's Studies from the University of North Carolina.
During the 2016-2017 academic year, while on sabbatical from Portland State, Joan was a Fulbright Scholar at Jimma University in Ethiopia.
Her research interests include student use of library technology and library spaces, marketing and communications in libraries, and library services to historically underrepresented and underserved groups.
