John Mazzeo is an applied and practicing medical anthropologist. His research
interests include global health, health disparities, livelihood systems, food security,
livelihood systems, and community development. He works in the Caribbean (Haiti and the
Bahamas) and in southern Africa (Zimbabwe).
Mazzeo earned his Ph.D. in Socio-Cultural Anthropology at the University of Arizona and
joined the Department of Anthropology at DePaul University in 2007. He is an assistant
professor of Anthropology and affiliated faculty in the Master of Public Health Program
and the Department of Health Science.
