Jessica Mantei is a lecturer in language and literacy in the Faculty of Education, University of Wollongong. She is an experienced primary school teacher and Reading Recovery teacher and has work in teacher professional development for literacy teaching. Jessica graduated with her PhD in July 2010. Her thesis examined the development of professional identity in early career teachers in connection with the learning experiences they designed. Jessica is the president of the South Coast local chapter of the Australian Literacy Educators’ Association (ALEA).
