Hello. I am currently an Assistant Professor of Sociology in the School of Social
and Family Dynamics at Arizona State University.* My work focuses primarily on social
networks as they pertain to (1) information diffusion within and across organizations and
(2) the spread and control of infectious diseases. Much of this work has focused on
HIV-prevention in high-risk populations.

In addition, I also have a primary interest in using social network theory to improve
strategies used in the design and implementation of primary data collection projects. To
date, this interest has led to my involvement in projects in Malawi, South Africa and New
York City (see the "projects" page for more details).

Before coming to ASU, I did my undergrad at Virginia Tech (Go Hokies!), completed grad
school in the Department of Sociology at Ohio State, then spent two years funded by the
Robert Wood Johnson Foundation as a Health and Society Scholar at Columbia University.

*I actually don't update this site that often anymore, but do more regular upkeep of
my site at ASU (http://www.public.asu.edu/~jadams27/).
