Professor Leitner has been a member of the faculty since 1969, prior to which he was
an active trial lawyer for 20 years. He regularly lectures on tort issues to bar
associations, lawyers groups, and medical practitioners, and has published chapters on
premises liability, intentional torts and dram shop liability for the New York Trial
Lawyers Institute. He was a member of the Committee on Human Rights in Research of New
York Hospital/Cornell University Medical College for fifteen years, and a member of the
Ethics Committee of New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens. He served as Village
Justice for the Village of Saltaire, New York, for 12 years.
