Jennifer L. North joined the Charleston School of Law faculty in 2004 to teach legal
writing, analysis and research. 

Prior to joining the Charleston School of Law, Professor North was in private practice
litigating business and maritime matters. While working toward an LL.M. degree in
Admiralty at Tulane Law School, she served as an editor on the Maritime Law Journal.
While at Texas Wesleyan, she served as the managing editor for the Law Review. 

Following graduation from Tulane University Law School, North was commissioned as a
second lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps. While on active duty, she worked as a
communications officer in Okinawa, Japan. North also trained recruits at MPRD Parris
Island, S.C., where she was promoted to captain.
