The Mildred Wirt Benson Digital Collection: Digitizing the Mysterious Nancy Drew Author

Jen Wolfe, University of Iowa

Abstract

The article discusses the digitization of the Mildred Wirt Benson Papers by the University of Iowa. Mildred Wirt Benson, according to the author, is also known as Carolyn Keene and has written the first 23 Nancy Drew novels. The high demand for such collections in the UI's Women's Archives is one of the reasons for the digitization, the author adds. Issues and challenges encountered by the University of Iowa in digitization of the Benson Papers, including the personal memory book, journalism scrapbooks, cover gallery and correspondence, is explained in the article. Several images on Benson Papers are also included in the article.
