Should my research be open access? Perspectives from Gettysburg faculty authors
Gettysburg College (2014)
  • Janelle Wertzberger, Gettysburg College
Abstract

Academia is abuzz about open access. The U.S. government has mandated that some federally-funded research be made freely available, faculty at various institutions have been adopting their own OA mandates, and some academic societies and their journals have adopted open access policies. Many Gettysburg College faculty are joining in the conversation—and taking action—by making traditionally-published scholarship available in our open access institutional repository, The Cupola, or publishing directly in open access journals. In this Friday Faculty Luncheon, Dan DeNicola, Darren Glass, and Julia Hendon will discuss their experiences with OA publishing and how it has impacted the reach of their scholarship.
