Jan M. Foote is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Iowa College of
Nursing. Jan teaches in the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and Doctor of Nursing Practice
programs. She has practiced in pediatric primary care and many pediatric subspecialty
areas. Since 2001, she has specialized in the care of children with disorders of growth
and hormone regulation at the Blank Children’s Endocrinology Clinic in Des Moines, IA. 

Jan is a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP),
Iowa Association of Nurse Practitioners (IANP), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners,
American Academy of Pediatrics, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing,
Association of Faculties of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, and the Pediatric
Endocrinology Nursing Society (PENS). She is on the PENS Board of Directors and Research
Committee and on the Clinical Expert Panel for NAPNAP. She has participated in many
volunteer activities, including mission trips and a camp for adolescent girls with Turner
syndrome. 

Jan developed an evidence-based clinical practice guideline on linear growth measurement
of children which was accepted by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality for the
National Guideline Clearinghouse. She has been a national and international speaker,
participated in research projects, and published in several journals. Jan has received
the Always Committed to Excellence (Iowa Health – Des Moines), 100 Great Iowa Nurses,
Nurse Practitioner of the Year (IANP), and two PENS poster awards.
