Background 

James has undergraduate degrees in accounting and law, and a doctorate in accounting. He
was has extensive industry experience in banking and accounting, and is a Certified
Practising Accountant (CPA). James joined academia in 1996, and completed his doctoral
research in 2000. His thesis focused on the relevance of financial accounting information
to reorganisation decisions made by financially distressed companies. 

Research 

James has research interests in the areas of corporate insolvency and recovery, corporate
governance, and earnings management. He has published his research in accounting and law
journals including Accounting and Finance, Pacific Accounting Review, Company and
Securities Law Journal, and the Insolvency Law Journal. 

Teaching 

James currently teaches Financial Accounting, Accounting Theory and Research Methods at
both the undergraduate and postgraduate level.
