The Student-Friendly Model: Creating Cost-Effective Externship Programs
Abstract
The article explores several approaches taken by law schools in assisting students so they can take advantage of summer externship opportunities. The useful discussion of student-friendly means actually used by law school externship programs provides a framework for every law school to consider how tuition costs impact summer externship participation.
The article also considers the rationale justifying a law school in making tuition adjustments for summer externships based on the reduced costs connected with summer externships when students are not otherwise using law school facilities, libraries, administrative or classroom resources.
