Weatherford holds an honorary doctorate from Chinggis Khan College of Mongolia. His
book Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modem World, published in Mongolia in 2003 and in
English in 2004, was on the New York Times best-sellers list for hardback and paperback.
Other books include The History of Money and Indian Givers: How the Indians of the
Americas Transformed the World.
Weatherford's books and articles have been translated into Russian, French, German,
Italian, Japanese, Spanish, Swedish, Portuguese and Mongolian. Student research
assistants have traveled with him to Asia, the Caribbean, South America and West Africa.
He has appeared on radio and television programs around the country, including the The
Today Show, ABC Evening News with Peter Jennings, Geraldo's Now It Can Be Told, The
Larry King Show and Kevin Costner's Five Hundred Nations.
Weatherford has been teaching at Macalester since 1983.
