Professor Epstein teaches ED 225 (Education and Social Justice), ED 361 (Curriculum
and Pedagogy in the Social Sciences), ED 492 (Student Teaching: Secondary Social
Science), ED 373 (Education and International Development) and ED 370 (Images of Children
and Schooling in Film). He also teaches IS 222/322 (International Human Rights: An
Introduction). He has strong interests in educational policy, comparative and
international education, globalization, and children’s rights issues and has taught in
Los Angeles, Perth, Australia, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. He also serves on the Scholars at
Risk advisory board. His most recent publications include: Recapturing the Personal
