"Dazzling Hybrids": The Poetry of Anne Carson

Ian Rae, The University of Western Ontario - King's University College

Abstract

In her book "Autobiography of Red: A Novel in Verse," Anne Carson manipulates and conflates her source material by drawing female and male literary figures into closer focus through a series of alternating frames. She combines the Osirian art of writing with the Isian art of weaving to create a strong narrative through constant fragmentation and displacement of material.
