Abstract
During the Colonial period of American history (1768-1778) a number of Baptist preachers were imprisoned for preaching without a license. This paper presents the case of Rev. James Ireland, who suffered more than most because of physical and emotional deprivation. He, along with many others, stood his ground for religious liberty.Suggested Citation
