Dr. Greg Hampikian is a nationally known DNA expert and professor of forensic biology. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he serves as the Director of the Idaho Innocence Project and the DNA Expert on the Georgia Innocence Project Board. Dr. Hampikian’s scientific work has been published in journals such as Nature and the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. He is a frequent keynote speaker at national conferences and offers workshops and presentations for schools across Idaho. Dr. Hampikian is also co-author of “Exit to Freedom,” which chronicles Calvin Johnson’s 17 year battle to prove his innocence, and ultimately his exoneration by DNA evidence. In 2012, Dr. Hampikian was named a Charter Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI). Election to NAI Fellow status is a professional distinction accorded to academic inventors who have demonstrated a highly prolific spirit of innovation in creating or facilitating outstanding inventions that have made a tangible impact on quality of life, economic development and the welfare of society.
