Her research interests include international migrant management, global talent and global career management, organizational justice, entrepreneurial processes and corporate entrepreneurship.

Her research on this topic appeared in leading management journals such as the Academy of Management Perspectives and featured in the Academy of Management Insights. Her research also examined issues and barriers associated with management of qualified international migrants as a source of global talent. She was the editor-in-chief of the New England Journal of Entrepreneurship, a peer-reviewed academic journal, from 2014 to 2019. Guo’s academic leadership roles also include serving as the guest co-editor for leading management journals such as the International Journal of Human Resource Management and serving as the chair of the Academy of Management Caucus committee.

Guo was the former academic faculty program director of the Jack Welch MBA program from 2016 to 2019. In this capacity, she led a special task force team on re-designing the MBA curriculum in 2018. Working with interim dean, faculty, and staff of the WCBT, in 2022, Guo successfully led the college’s accreditation effort and assured the college’s re-accreditation from AACSB, one of the most rigorous accreditation bodies of the global business education.
