Abstract
This study uses data from the National Longitudinal Survey of Public Health Systems to examine how hospital engagement in local community health networks has changed over time. Specifically, we estimate the effects of recent gains in health insurance coverage under the Affordable Care Act, and corresponding declines in hospital uncompensated care costs, on community network engagement by hospitals. Results offer valuable insight into the nature of hospital community benefit activities in the post-ACA era.
