Abstract
Meg Whitman was “shocked, shocked” to learn that her maid was an illegal alien, hiding in plain sight for nine years in her Atherton mansion! It is understandable that Whitman accepted the documents presented at the time of hiring, a state issued ID and a federal issued social security card as valid. What is not convincing is that after nine years, more than 2,500 days in the home, where “she was considered a member of our family,” this CEO/MBA and her MD husband never suspected why their “family member” never took days off to fly to her native Mexico for a special birthday, wedding, funeral, or family visit. Is this a case of “Don’t ask, don’t tell,” along with “I don’t know you, you don’t know me?”
