A native of Argentina, Germán Coloma's own research interests are in the area of microeconomic theory, applied economic analysis, econometrics and law and economics. He holds an accounting degree from the Universidad Nacional de La Plata. He received his master's degree in economics and his doctorate in economics from the University of California at Los Angeles. He teaches industrial organization and law and economics at the Universidad del Centro de Estudios Macroeconómicos de Argentina, where he coedits the Journal of Applied Economics. He has visited at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata, the Universidad de San Andrés, the Universidad de Buenos Aires, the Universidad del Congreso, the Universidad Austral.
