State and Local Governments Prepare for Climate Change

Abstract
The article focuses on initiatives and action plans developed by state and local government from the different U.S. states which response to global climatic changes. It mentions that San Jose, California, the 10th largest U.S. city and the capital of Silicon Valley, has started its response to climate change with the 2008 adoption of Mayor Chuck Reed's Green Vision program such as the installation of light-emitting diode (LED) street lights and tree planting. It states that the California Solar Initiative (CSI) was implement in the state in order to mitigate climate change by lessening the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with energy production. It also notes that the Pew Center for Global Climate Change has urged all 32 states to further actions which adapt to climatic changes.
