Abstract
Metallurgy educators in universities are ignoring the importance of history of technology in the curricula. This should be corrected to graduate engineers with solid understanding of their profession. “Science sans conscience n’est que ruine de l’âme” is a phrase used by Rabelais (ca. 1494 –1553) in his1532 satirical novel Pantagruel. It is due to the editor of Laval University’s Fil des événements who used it as title to this article.
