Aluminum and Its Position in the Periodic Table

Fathi Habashi, Laval University, Quebec City, Canada

Abstract

Aluminum seems to be misplaced in the Periodic Table. It is usually put below boron, a metalloid with which it has nothing in common. Aluminum should be transferred above scandium so that, together with the alkali metals and the alkaline earths metals, these metals represent the typical metals with related properties and electronic configuration.
