About Esther Alcindor

Esther Alcindor holds two degrees from Liberty University and a doctorate degree from Regent University in Higher Education. She teaches courses in curriculum and instruction and serves as the Chair of Early and Elementary Education at Liberty University.

Prior to her work at Liberty University, she taught at a public elementary and high school. She served a significant role in the implementation of the program Promoting Excellence Through Accelerating Learning (PETAL), which was established to increase the number of minority students taking advance level high school math courses. She taught summer school for middle and high school students needing remediation or acceleration in mathematics. While serving as a high school math teacher she was elected teacher of the year.

Esther has a passion for the teaching of mathematics and thus admonishes her students to not only focus on getting the answer but to ensure that students understand the process. She believes that teaching is a calling as well as a gift from God. It is her desire that students leave her class with a love and appreciation for mathematics while developing the knowledge, skills, and dispositions they will need to meet the needs of an increasingly diverse student population that they will teach.

II Timothy 1:7 - “God has not given you the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
