Emma R. Norman is lead Co-Editor in Chief of the international peer-reviewed journal Politics and Policy and was associate professor in political theory at the University of the Americas - Puebla, Mexico from 2003-2010. She obtained her joint BA in History and Government (1993), her MA in Political Theory (1994) and her doctorate in political philosophy (1999) from the Department of Government at the University of Essex, UK, where she also taught international relations and political theory for three years. Dr. Norman's monograph El yo politico: concepciones del yo, la política, y la autonomía en la teoría política contemporánea [The Political Self: Conceptions of the Self, Politics and Autonomy in Contemporary Political Theory] was published in Spanish translation in by Ediciones Coyoacán (Mexico) in 2007. Dr. Norman is also the author of several articles, chapters, and conference papers on concepts in political philosophy and applied ethics including animal rights policy, just war, rights and sovereignty, issues of political identity, citizenship and international political theory. Her current research interests focus on collective identity formation, the concept of the state and political evil in the work of Hannah Arendt and Carl Schmitt.
