Dr. Ellen Lowrie Black currently serves as graduate professor of education at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. Ellen has over two decades of experience in Christian education as a teacher, parent, board member, university professor, dean, and vice-president. She is published in numberous journals and books. Ellen is involved in training educators globally including Russia, Europe, Asia, South, Central, and North America. She is also involved in urban Christian education in the U.S. She speaks widely to teachers, early educators, administration, and youth. Ellen holds degrees from Eastern Mennonite University, Texas A&M, and Temple University in Philadelphia. Her post-doctorate work has been at Harvard Graduate School of Education. Dr. Black is so grateful to God for her Christian parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. She is the mother of 3 great children. Elisabeth is 26, mother to Tyson Christopher. Benjamin, 23, is the athletic trainer at Liberty Christian Academy in Lynchburg. Ben and and his wife, Autum, are expecting a son in May 2008. Christopher, Benjamin's twin brother, has been playing ball on heaven's courts since fall of 2001. While the loss of a child defies description, the blessing of Christopher for 17 1/2 years is eternal. God is gracious to send two little Christophers as Ellen's first grandchildren. Ellen is partial to good coffee, good friends, reading, and fishing. She dreams of all four someday at a fishing cabin on the North Platte River in Wyoming or on the Gulkana River in the interior of Alaska.
