A study of documents (Archives Départmentals de l'Eure, Série D3-5) concerning a music competition held in the town of Évreux in the last quarter of the 16th century. Composers were invited to submit motets and chansons through a variety of social and professional contacts, including the Catholic League, the court, the music printer Adrian le Roy, and perhaps the Académie de Poésie et de Musique of Jean-Antoine de Baïf.
