Elaine Parker, PhD, RN, CNE, NEA-BC, is an Associate Professor in the Graduate
School of Nursing. Dr. Parker has served as a member of the master’s and PhD faculties at
UMASS Graduate School of Nursing since 2001. She is a leader in developing distance or
online education at the graduate school of nursing. She served for five years as the
coordinator of the Nurse Educator specialty program. Dr. Parker is an active member of
the Worcester Nursing Pipeline Consortium working to advance clinical and academic nurse
educator roles in the Worcester region. Her research interests include technology in
nursing education, distance learning , nursing faculty shortage, faculty and clinical
educator development. 

Dr. Parker has over twenty years of experience as a director of education and nursing
staff development in the acute care hospital setting. 

Dr. Parker is retired from the United States Army Nurse Corps (Reserves). She holds the
rank of Colonel (Ret.) and served as a member of the Advisory Council [AC] for the
Triservice Military Nursing Research Program.
