Dr. Elaine M. Long has been a long-time professor at Boise State University, beginning as an Assistant Professor of Home Economics in 1976 and retiring as Professor of Community and Environmental Health. She continues to serve the University as an active Professor Emeritus. Through the years she has served in a number of professional organizations and activities, including the Idaho Dietetic Association and the American Dietetic Association. She has served as a consultant with various school districts and state departments throughout Idaho. Dr. Long was awarded the President's Award for Sustained Research Activities from Boise State in 2004, and an Outstanding Teaching Award from Boise State students in 2005. In 2012, she received the Outstanding Dietitian of the Year Award presented at the annual meeting of the Idaho Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics.
