He received his PhD in Historical Theology from the University of Wales (Lampeter, UK) and his dissertation on Augustine of Hippo was later published as Augustine as Mentor: A Model for Preparing Spiritual Leaders. He received a PhD in Intercultural Studies at the University of Pretoria (South Africa) with an emphasis on the history and theology of the evangelical missions movement from Latin America.
